Background: I am a student at Florida State University majoring in Elementary Education. I have been babysitting for as long as I can remember, starting with family and family friends. I have babysat children ages 18 months to 12 years old. In high school I was given the opportunity to teach dance classes at my dance studio. I loved getting to know each student and be able to teach them something new. I taught classes ages two to nine in a group setting and this is what inspired me to go into elementary education. I love working with children because I feel there is something to learn from every child I have ever worked with. I do have experience with children with severe allergies and special needs in a group setting. I can’t wait to meet all of the amazing kids and families!

Future plans: I plan to be graduate with a bachelors in Elementary Education and a masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I want to be the elementary school teacher I always wish I had!

When she’s not babysitting: I love to read, bake, go on walks, and hang out with my friends!

Amanda was a long time student of mine, as well as an assistant teacher, dance camp and party instructor at my studio, up until she graduated high school.
Amanda has been a wonderful assistant teacher, teaching dance alongside myself for a variety of ages. She has also hosted birthday parties for younger students and led dance camp classes for ages 3-7!
Amanda is a natural with kids of all ages. She knows the appropriate way to speak, act, and lead children in a variety of activities and settings in a way that is inviting, encouraging, and fun. She has a knack for being able to adjust/ be flexible as different scenarios arise and is always a team player. She puts the kids’ needs first and I would trust her with any group of kids in terms of safety and engaging in a fun manner.
I think Amanda is always open and willing to receive feedback on ways to improve and wants to learn how to do better each day than she did the day before. I think providing her with regular feedback on her performance will encourage her to expand on her skills and lead her to be more confident in her role.

Amanda was a wonderful student teacher. She was dedicated, reliable, and compassionate. She positively reinforced her students, led with confidence, and gave clear and concise instructions. Amanda has a great personality which is essential when it comes to working with children. I have observed her in many situations where she took charge in a professional yet fun and enthusiastic manner, often having parents requesting ‘Miss Amanda’.
On numerous occasions when we needed coverage for a class Amanda would be the first person I would call. I have personally observed Amanda working with children ages 3-9.
During the dance camp there were several children that just did not want to be there. Amanda made them feel comfortable and tended to their needs while still being able to lead the rest of the class.
